Coinbase to Dump Trader-Friendly ‘Pro’ Exchange

Coinbase will be getting rid of Coinbase Pro, its secondary app geared towards experienced traders, and replacing it with advanced trading options on its flagship app.

Coinbase says it’s decision was driven by the “friction” it’s customers face between the two platforms’ “overlapping services,” in a Thursday press release on Medium.

Coinbase Pro offered traders the ability to interact directly with the exchanges order book, and to pay less in fees while they do.

Coinbase is infamously one of the more expensive trading platforms on the market. Thcy charge a flat transaction fee on every trade, on top of percentage commission fees and as they fold Pro into regular Coinbase users will no longer be able to get around these fees.
