Overwatch 2 Guide: How to Get 20K Healing

Being a good healer in Overwatch consists of a few key ingredients. Following these should get anyone up to 20k healing in a good match.

  • Observation
  • Positioning
  • Situational Awareness
  • Pocket Healing
  • Group Up and Watch for Wanderers

Observation is the most important part of being not just a great healer but a great teammate regardless of your role.

A good healer positions themselves so they can see everyone at all times and be aware of what your teammates are doing. Eventually you will be able to predict incoming damage and swoop in for the save.

That leads to my next point of positioning. Your position helps you observe everyone but preferably away from the action.

Healers tend to be more exposed so it’s best to heal in a team fight without actually being in the team fight in most cases. Some healers are capable of holding their weight in a team fight.

Situational awareness is power. Knowing what not just your team but the enemy team is doing is important. That way you can easily calculate who is going to need what before it happens. If you’re aware of what’s going on you’re more likely to stay out of trouble’s way.

Priority healing is key to keeping teammates alive. You don’t have to heal someone all the way; you can simply heal them past critical and move on to another critical teammate.

If someone is clearly carrying your team, you might want to “pocket heal” them or make them your top priority and stick around them.

Knowing when to pocket heal and when to spread the love can be difficult, but developing an instinct for it is key to becoming a great healer.

Grouping up is so valuable as a healer. You need to be able to heal as many people as quickly as you can. It is significantly easier to do that if you’re grouped up.

Some characters however are more independent, so keep and eye on those characters since they might be on their own.

These are the guidelines I use to earn top healing in most of my matches. Just remember you can’t heal your team if you’re dead. Stay frosty.
